Mahindra Black Edition mHawk: best value 4X4 on the market?

Mahindra Black Edition mHawk

The Mahindra Black Edition mHawk was released as a special edition last year, itโ€™s now a permanent fixture in the lineup and weโ€™re wondering if it might be the best value fourby on the market.

The Mahindra Black Edition mHawk might not be the first vehicle you think of when it comes to a โ€˜premiumโ€™ four-wheel drive. But at $39,990 driveaway it makes a hell of a case for itself, donโ€™t you think.

Based on the top-spec S10+ variant, the Black Edition mHawk adds:

  • Black Steel Bull Bar;
  • Black Side Steps;
  • Black Alloy Sports Bar;
  • Black Flares;
  • Black Custom Decal Kit;
  • Black 17-inch Rims; and
  • Black Tub Liner.

Other standard features, as included on S10+ models are a new seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system with sat-nav and Android connectivity. You get a reversing camera and rear seat vents,one-touch lane indicator, remote fuel release, rain-sensing wipers, automatic headlights, hill descent control, and hill hold function. Not bad for less than $40k.

Sure, the PikUp range isnโ€™t the quickest in the segment, running a 2.2-litre turbo-diesel four-cylinder engine making 103kW and 320Nm of torque. This is mated to a six-speed manual transmission with Dana Spicer axles and Eaton self-locking differential.

The Mahindra PikUp comes with a five-year 100,000km limited warranty, five-year roadside assist and four year, 55,000km capped price service program. Itโ€™s available now.
