Based on an Iveco Daily 4×4, the Expedition Earthcruiser EXP will take you out the back of beyond and back again in comfort.
The base of the Expedition Earthcruiser EXP is an updated 7-tonne Iveco Daily 4×4 which now has a Euro 6 compliant engine and can be had for the first time with an eight-speed automatic or six-speed manual.
That Euro 6 engine is a 3.0-litre turbo diesel four-cylinder making 180hp and 430Nm of torque. Itโs standard all-wheel drive with low-range gearing. Itโs worth noting this 7-tonne Iveco Daily 4×4 with its 3500kg towing capacity requires drivers to have a light or medium rigid licence.
This rig runs 17-inch forged alloy rims with a 2250kg load rating and 37-inch Kevlar-reinforced mud terrain tyres with a 2300kg rating, and because the Iveco sits up high, an electric three-step entry system is fitted.
It is equipped with 100-litres of water as standard, although a 400-litre tank is cost-optionally available. Similarly, the standard Iveco 90-litre fuel tank can be augmented by a 400-litre tank. The AdBlue tank can be upgraded to match the bigger fuel tank which, combined offer a theoretical driving range of around 2300 kilometres.
The camper unit is moulded as a single piece for structural rigidity, and features high density thermal foam walls, floor and roof to provide strength and insulation from the hot and cold. The cabin is modified to allow walk-through from the swivel front seats to the camper area.
An integrated awning is fitted to the side of the body, and there are three exterior spotlights and two opening side windows as well as a pop-top roof. The roof is home to an upgradable 270-Watt solar panel system. There is an 1800-Watt inverter/charger, also upgradable, and there are 3 x 120 Amp batteries on board as well as a touch screen to control more than 80 functions in the camper body.
Home comforts on the inside include a stainless-steel kitchen sink, inside and outside shower, slide-out internal toilet, fresh-water drinking tap and upright fridge-freezer. The cook-top can be either induction or diesel powered. There is also a continuous hot water service and climate control system.
There are a range of cost-options including snorkels, toolboxes, winches and reversing cameras, Bilstein shocks or full air suspension, washing machine or air conditioner. For pricing and more information about the new Expedition Earthcruiser EXP, head over to the Earthcruiser website.
