Apple CarPlay has featured on some motorcycles since 2017, but Android Auto has had a much slower rollout.
Whether you like it or not, Apple and Android connectivity on both cars and bikes are just the way of things. Seems we canโt go 30min without knowing whoโs said what in WhatsApp.
Honda was the first bike maker to offer Apple CarPlay on its Gold Wing in 2017 and, most recently, the Africa Twin which went on-sale here last month. And while other makers have added CarPlay to their lineups, Android Auto has been left off the list. Harley Davidson beat out Honda with Android Auto integration, adding it to the infotainment system offered on its Touring models back in March.
According to Honda, its current Gold Wing (2018 and newer) will, at no additional cost, be upgraded with Android Auto. Of course, like most cars, youโll need your phone to be plugged in via its charging cable for it to sync and youโll need a Bluetooth headset. The update for owners is expected to roll out in the US from June, thereโs no word on when the update will be made available in Australia.
