Remember when Jeep tried to distract us with its V8-powered Wrangler Rubicon 392 Concept only moments before the Bronco reveal?
UPDATED: Jeep has revealed the Wrangler 392 which will go on-sale in the US next year. Don’t hold your breath for it to come here.
Speaking at the reveal overnight: Jim Morrison, Head of Jeep Brand โ FCA North America, said: โThis is the most-powerful, quickest, most-capable Jeep Wrangler weโve ever built.
“The factory lift and abundant low-end torque from the V-8 makes the Rubicon 392 the king of the hills, whether youโre rock crawling at low speeds or powering up an incline. And when pavement replaces dirt, Rubicon 392 makes quick work of the road.”

Jeep has taken to Instagram to confirm itโll launch a HEMI V8-powered Wrangler next year (2021). Back in July, Jeep teased us with its Wrangler Rubicon 392 Concept.
Despite saying it was a concept back in July, Jeep did say that Wrangler owners had been calling for a V8 version and that they โmay soon get their wishโ. So, we really shouldnโt be too surprised by the confirmation.
While there are no details accompanying the confirmation the V8 Wrangler will go ahead, weโd expect it to mimic the Concept. That thing runs a 6.4-litre (392 cubic-inch) V8 engine making 344kW and 620Nm of torque. Itโs likely the production version will run the same tweaked eight-speed that featured in the 392 Concept to handle the extra grunt.
It should run the same Dana 44 axles as the regular Rubicon, a full-time two-speed transfer case, electric front and rear axle lockers, 37-inch mud-terrain tyres on 17-inch beadlock wheels, and will hopefully get the Conceptโs two-inch lift and Fox shocks.
Itโs unlikely weโll get to see this thing in Australia.
