ARB releases GVM upgrade for new Toyota HiLux

ARB announces GVM upgrade for HiLux

ARB has released its Summit bull bar for the new Toyota HiLux, as well as a two-stage GVM upgrade, taking payload up to more than 1300kg.

The new Toyota HiLux is on-sale now and ARB has become the first brand to market with its full range of vehicle accessories, including a pre-registration GVM upgrade.

With dual-cab 4x4s becoming the weapon of choice for those looking for a work and play vehicle, ARBโ€™s GVM upgrade, available in two stages, should get plenty of attention. Indeed, the Old Man Emu GVM upgrade can be had as a stage one GVM upgrade lifting the GVM from 3150kg to 3180kg. The stage two upgrade lifts the GVM to 3465kg (up from 3150kg). GCM remains at 5850kg.

The stage two GVM upgrade lifts payload to around 1372kg depending on the dual-cab 4×4 variant. As part of the stage two upgrade, the front axle load is increased from 1480kg to 1595kg which is a vital inclusion when you think about the extra weight of a bullbar, driving lights, winches, etc. The stage two kit includes either Nitrocharger or BP-51 internal bypass shocks and springs.

Vehicle makers are increasingly making their active systems more sophisticated and fitting them to a wider range of vehicles, like commercial vehicles. This has meant that accessories makers canโ€™t just worry about strength and mounting points, provisions for lights and UHF CB antennas, but also about the design of the bar work and ensuring it doesnโ€™t interfere with the performance of the safety systems. ARB said its new Summit bull bar has been engineered to work with Toyotaโ€™s Safety Sense active safety system.

The Summit bar comes standard in matt black but can be colour coded to suit the vehicle, and includes provision for UHF CB antennas, driving lights and winch. Like the Summit bar, the ARB Commercial bar has been designed to work with the HiLuxโ€™s safety systems. ARB said itโ€™s still working on its rear step tow bars for both Summit and Commercial ranges.

In addition, ARB said a stack of its existing HiLux accessories, from canopies to side steps, Sportlid and tailgate assist, etc are all able to be fitted to the new HiLux.
