Only 25 of these carbon-fibre-bodied Shelby GT500CRs will be built by Classic Recreations in the US and 10 of ‘em are still available.
Produced under licence, the Classic Recreations carbon-fibre-bodied Shelby GT500CR is absolutely stunning. Based on either a 1967 or 68 Mustang, these limited-to-25 vehicles get a tick of approval from Shelby.
As impressive as the carbon-fibre body is, there’s been plenty done beneath the skin with new disc brakes right around, adjustable coil-over shocks, and a rack-and-pinion steering conversion. On the inside, the thing’s been retrimmed with new leather and alcantara all over the place, including Shelby highback Scat Rally Series 1000 seats, and old-school Shelby gauges.
Under the bonnet is a supercharged 5.0-litre Coyote V8 which makes around 810hp and runs through a six-speed manual. But, if you want to push the boat out you can get a custom 427 V8 in two states of tune that’ll thump out either 900hp or 1000hp-plus.
These things are priced from around USD$300,000 and as of writing there are still 10 of the 25 available for purchase.
