The answer to a question no-one asked…take Germanyโ€™s most powerful tractor, the Claas Xerion 5000 to the Nurburgring and see how quick it can lap the Green Hell.

The name sounds like it belongs to a supercar. But the Claas Xerion 5000, if the photos havenโ€™t alreadyย  given it away, is a tractor. Sure, itโ€™s Germanyโ€™s most powerful tractor but itโ€™s a tractor nonetheless.

And that gave German motoring publication, Auto Motor und Sport the idea of taking it to the Nurburgring. And why not. With a stonking 387kW and 2600Nm of torque the numbers are impressive until you factor in the weight. At 16.5 tonnes this is no lightweight. And, itโ€™s a tractor.

And with a top speed of just 50km/h it was never going to break a lap record. Indeed, even travelling at top speed for the entire 20.6km, the tractor was always going to be looking at a lap time of around 25-30min. Watch the video to see how it went…oh, and itโ€™s all in German. We love this.
