Land Rover is building a limited run of 25 Defender Works V8 Trophy variants with buyers allowed to compete in an exclusive three-day competition in the UK.
The new Land Rover Defender has copped plenty of attention but there are still those who don’t really see it as a ‘proper’ Defender. Me included. So Land Rover’s announcement that it’s building 25 Defender V8 Works Trophy variants will be music to their/my ears.
All 25 vehicles will be exclusively painted in Eastnor Yellow with contrasting black paintwork with matching 16-inch steel wheels. The purpose-built vehicles also receive LED headlamps, a Heritage front grille, unique Land Rover Trophy badging and event participation graphics personalised to each customer.
Additional all-terrain kit includes a front winch, multi-point expedition cage, roof rack, underbody protection, raised air intake, LED spotlights and muddies.
On the inside, you get leather Recaro bucket seats with contrast yellow stitching and a bespoke Land Rover clock face by Elliot Brown. Land Rover Classic’s own Classic Infotainment System with integrated navigation and mobile device connectivity is also fitted.
Each vehicle is based on a re-engineered 2012-2016 Defender Works V8 with a beefy 5.0L V8 mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission, stronger brakes and uprated suspension.
Both 90 and 110 variants are available to order now, with the 90 kicking off from, please sit down, £195,000. Ouch.
The first time that buyers will get to drive their new Defender will be at a three-day event at Eastnor Castle, the spiritual home of Land Rover in the UK. There will be a range of challenges that owners will have to participate in, designed to mirror global adventures, like the Camel Trophy.
