M5 CS is the fastest and most powerful BMW ever

BMW M5 CS

Thatโ€™s one helluva statement. BMW Australia will give 20 lucky buggers the chance to own a BMW M5 CS from $274,900.

UPDATE: Speaking with BMW Australia today they told me that if you want an M5 CS you’re too late. They’ve all been sold…in less than 24 hours.

The fastest Five gets a, wait for it, 7kW power bump over the M5 Competition giving it bragging rights in the BMW stable. Okay, cheek aside. The M5 CS has had 70kg lopped off its weight and gets a touch more power boosting it to 467kW and 750Nm, and you can send that all to the rears or share it around via all-wheel drive. Itโ€™ll get to 100km/h in 3.0 seconds flat.

The 70kg weight saving is from greater use of CFRP (Carbon Fibre Reinforced Plastic) panels and just four carbon-fibre bucket seats.

And there have been plenty of changes beneath those panels. Like the 7mm ride height drop, modifications to the springs, suspension and anti-roll bars as well as shock absorbers developed for the BMW M8 Gran Coupรฉ. And you get M Carbon brakes which will handle heat better but also save around 23kg in weight compared to the brakes on  the M5 Competition.

From a styling point of view, well, um, hmmm. Thereโ€™s a lot of yellow and gold, and thereโ€™s even a hint of yellow in the light tubes. On the inside, you get all the creature comforts as well as those figure hugging bucket seats with an outline of the Nurburgring stamped into the seat back. The M5 CS is available to order online now by clicking HERE.
