Meet the Jimco Reaper pre-runner and its 9.1L V8

Jimco Reaper

Take a Ford F-150 and throw a whole heap of money at it along with instructions to make a bonkers pre-runner. Meet the Jimco Reaper.

The Ford F-150 Raptor isnโ€™t what youโ€™d call a shrinking violet but when youโ€™re a Texas oil billionaire (Bobby Patton), own the LA Dodgers and like to go off-road racing, then you need something special. Enter the Jimco Reaper (as in Grim Reaper).

The Jimco  Reaper is a pre-runner, the monster that goes ahead of the rally cars and off-road racers to check the track is okay, so itโ€™s got to be pretty sturdy. Patton handed over the F-150 Raptor and presumably a blank cheque to Jimco Racing.

The V6 was the first thing to be binned, replaced with a bored Chevrolet 9.1-litre V8, a Gearworks four-speed automatic GM L80E was bolted onto the back of the engine.

The body was also ripped off and swapped for a fibreglass shell. And the front and rear suspension has also been changed to a Jimco Racing design which works with the Fox racing springs and Fox 4.0 and 4.4 bypass shock absorbers. All up thereโ€™s a staggering 81 centimetres of wheel travel. Brembo brakes help the thing stop and the wheels are 17-inches with beadlocks wrapped in 40-inch BF Goodrich KM3 rubber.

Donโ€™t forget about the creature comforts. The Reaper has a leather interior and climate control as well as off-road specific navigation and UHF.

No pricing has been revealed but you can imagine this thing would cost deep into six figures.
