A longish bow to draw but MG is claiming its new Cyberster concept takes inspiration from the brandโs heritage and particularly the MGB Roadster.
Keen to hear what the Internet thinks about this one, but MG is claiming its Cyberster concept which will be revealed in full at the Shanghai Motor Show, takes inspiration from the MGB Roadster. Maybe itโs the drop top.
Anyway, this thing is an EV which MG claims will have a running range of up to 800km and that itโll get to 100km/h in less than three seconds. No slouch. But thereโs no word on the powertrain yet, I guess weโll have to wait until the Shanghai Motor Show.
Designed by MGโs design team in London, the Cyberster is a โtwo-door, two-seater sports car recalling the brandโs tradition, drawing a number of styling cues from the classic MGB Roadster while also ushering in new high-tech features, including an interactive gaming cockpit and 5G connectivity,โ or so it said in its media statement.
The gigantic grille is a re-working of the MG grille and is claimed to be an air duct that helps channel airflow โover the carโs chassisโ. The round headlights are a nod to the past but with a bit of modern bling in that they open with the car is switched on.
The interior is typically futuristic with a large LED instrument cluster and separated cockpit for driver and passenger. And โZero Gravityโ seats have floating head restraints.
Carl Gotham, Director of SAIC Design Advanced London, said: โThe Cyberster is a bold statement that looks strongly into MGโs future, touching on our heritage but more importantly building on our technology and advanced design.
โCyberster is a hugely exciting concept for us.โ
