More equipment for updated Ford Focus arriving in December

Ford Focus line-up refreshed in Australia

The updated Ford Focus range will arrive in Australia from December boasting equipment upgrades and improved rear suspension.

The headline grabber for us here at MotoFomo is the news that the warmed-up Focus ST-Line will now run a multi-link rear end (so to will the Focus Active). It was previously only a torsion beam system but what the Ford engineers had done with it was astounding. It will be an even better handling thing with the multi-link rear setup.

There are now only two models to choose from, the ST-Line or the crossover-ish Active variant. Oh, and the hot-shoe Focus ST which weโ€™ll be reviewing in the next few weeks. You can read our review of the Fiesta ST by clicking on these blue words.

Both variants run the same engine, a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder making 134kW/240Nm and running an eight-speed automatic with power to the ground via the front wheels.

Besides the multi-link rear, the key changes include previously cost optional front parking sensors now standard across the range and the headlights are now LED. There are new colours available, Race Red (originally only for the Mustang and Focus ST) which is no-cost colour and Fantastic Red which is a cost-optional colour.

FordPass Connect will be standard on the updated range, allowing you to remote lock or unlock the vehicle via an app, as well as being able to access roadside assistance and schedule in a  car service.

Speaking about the updates to the Focus range, Kay Hart, President and CEO of Ford Australia and New Zealand, said: โ€œThe Focus has a reputation as a driverโ€™s car, so we are pleased to present a line-up that strongly reflects that.

โ€œWeโ€™ve made the ST-Line an even better drive with its suspension upgrades, while the Active clearly reflects the outdoor adventurous spirit that its name implies with added practicality, too.โ€
