The next-generation 2021 Toyota Kluger has been confirmed for sale in Australia and will boast a hybrid and petrol engine when it lands.
The all-new Toyota Kluger will be available with both a petrol and hybrid engine when it arrives here next year. This will be the first time a hybrid variant has been available on the Kluger in Australia.
The new Kluger will be made for Australia in the US, with the choice of either a 2.5-litre new-generation hybrid system or a 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine. While itโs not totally nailed down the output yet, Toyota reckons the hybrid will produce a combined 179kW. The V6 is expected to offer 218kW via an eight-speed automatic.
All-new Kluger will offer front and all-wheel-drive (AWD) setups for the V6 with the hybrid only available with an AWD system that incorporates front and rear electric motors, like the RAV4.
The new Kluger runs on the Toyota New Global Architecture GA-K platform, with Toyota claiming it offers improved ride and handling as well as a more rigid structure overall. In addition, Toyota reckons the new platform offers a more flexible interior with expanded boot space
Toyota Australia Vice President Sales and Marketing Sean Hanley said, โThe all-new hybrid Kluger is the result of combining Toyota’s hybrid leadership with extensive experience in SUVs, along with an unrivalled reputation for quality, durability and reliabilityโ.
Pricing and specifications will be released closer to its arrival in Australia.
