The Porsche 911 Targa 4 has been revealed to complete the new 911 lineup, it’ll get to Australia later this year from $275,800+ORCs.
Offering a nod to its 1965 forebear, the new 911 Targa 4 (yes, they’re all-wheel drive now) features the signature wide roll hoop, a movable roof section over the front seats and that wraparound rear windscreen. Not a fan of a convertible, sorry, cabriolet? Then the Targa is for you.
Most performance enthusiasts tend to walk away from drop tops given they’re usually heavier to compensate for the loss of a roof structure. But the Targa 4 and 4S are still plenty quick.
The Targa 4’s 3.0-litre six-cylinder boxer engine makes 283kW (11kW more than before) and 450Nm it’ll get to 100km/h in 4.2 seconds. And that’s quicker than the old car, if you cost-option the Sports Chrono pack, by one-tenth of a second. The Targa 4S is gruntier still with its engine thumping out 331kW (22kW increase) and 530Nm getting to 100km/h in 3.6 seconds which is four-tenths of a second quicker than the old car.
An eight-speed dual-clutch PDK transmission is standard but a manual transmission is available.The Targa 4 and 4S are available to order now in Australia (deliveries begin later in the year) with prices starting at $275,800+ORCs and $314,100+ORCs. In addition to standard specification, Australian models will be additionally equipped with LED headlights with Porsche Dynamic Light System Plus (PDLS Plus), windscreen with grey top tint, electrically folding exterior mirrors, automatically-dimming mirrors, metallic paint, Surround View, Lane Change Assist, Comfort Access, front seat heating, 14-way sports seats with memory package, digital radio and BOSE Surround Sound system.
