Joining the RS 660, the Aprilla Tuono 660 fills out the brand’s medium-engine-capacity lineup and will be here later this year.
Meet Aprilla’s new naked sports bike, the Tuono 660. The covers were ripped off today with the local importer announcing pricing would be announced closer to the bike’s arrival Down Under later this year.
The new Tuono 660 sees it build on its legendary predecessor, the Tuono V4 and move into the medium-engine-capacity segment. Here’s how Aprilla describes it, “the Tuono 660, a sport naked characterised by ultra high technical content, aligned with an even more extreme street and daily-use connotation makes for a more natural and comfortable ride”.
Like it’s RS 660 sibling the Tuono 660 aims to offer plenty of punch in a lightweight package, weighing just 183kg and packing 95hp. This makes it perfect for those who are looking to move on from a learner bike, although the Tuono 660 is also available as a 35kW LAMS variant.
The frame and swingarm are made from die-cast aluminium to keep the weight down. It runs adjustable Kayaba suspension with a high-set handlebar and chassis design to differentiate it from the RS 660.
There’s a full electronic package as standard, including electronic throttle, multi-level traction control, anti-wheelie control, cruise control, engine braking and selectable engine maps as well as ABS. There are five riding modes, too, three for the road and two for the track.
Tuono 660 will be available in three colour scheme variations: Concept Black, Iridium Grey and the brand new and attractive Acid Gold. Pricing and full specification will follow closer to arrival in the middle of this year.
