The new Moto Guzzi V7 is coming to Australia

Arriving next year (2021) the new Moto Guzzi V7 boasts a new engine and retro, minimalist styling.

The Moto Guzzi V7 has continued its evolution since it lobbed back onto the market in 2007 to the point where the Italian bike maker has now dropped the roman numerals indicating the model. These had been a feature since 2007.

Subtle styling changes are all well and good, but itโ€™s the new engine thatโ€™s the headline grabber. Related to the one in the V85 TT, this new engine boasts 25% more power (up to 65hp from 52hp) and 73Nm of torque (80% of which on tap from 3000rpm).

Moto Guzzi says the new, bigger engine contributes to an improvement in the looks, โ€œand the view from the rear highlights the larger cardan final drive and the wider rear wheel, as well as the more robust pair of Kayaba shock absorbersโ€.

There are new side panels and a shorter rear mudguard. The frame itself might resemble the old one but itโ€™s now stronger with extra steel in the headstock area, while the new shocks allow more travel. The two-tier saddle, Moto Guzzi claims, is more comfortable.

There are two variants, the Stone and the Special. The V7 Stone gets a new, full LED light system with the headlight that includes a DRL in the shape of the Moto Guzzi Eagle while the instrument cluster is in line with the look of a minimalist motorcycle; entirely digital on a single, circular dial. The aluminium wheel rims are also new; the rear wheel is shod with a wider 150/70 tyre. The V7 Special maintains dual dial analogue instrument cluster (speedometer and rev counter) and ultra-classic spoked wheel rims.
