Toyota has boosted the oomph in Supra by 35kW, helping shave 0.2 seconds off its 0-100km/h sprint time.
In our review of the Supra we said there was a good car in there waiting to get out…this might be the tweak it needed to fully show itself. Toyota has retuned the BMW-sourced 3.0L turbocharged straight six to offer 35kW more, now up to 285kW between 5800-6500rpm. Whatโd they do? They lowered the compression ratio to 10.2:1. And while peak torque is still 500Nm itโs now spread across a wider range (1800-5000rpm).
This means the GR Supra will get to 100km/h in 4.1 seconds, about 0.2 seconds quicker than before. Toyota has also added some strut braces to the engine bay to help stiffen up the front end. Oh, and thereโs now a Supra logo on the brake calipers at the front on GTS models.
Toyota Australia Vice President Sales and Marketing Sean Hanley said, “This upgrade for GR Supra will continue our quest to deliver ever-better cars, with more power and under-bonnet bracing that will further enhance the thrilling driving experience offered by this iconic car,” he said.
