It ain’t cheap. The limited-edition Volkswagen Amarok V6 580S is available now with deliveries starting in June. But for $70,990 plus on-road costs it’s more than the performance-oriented Ford Ranger Raptor.
Sure, there’s that sweet V6 to lean on but let’s not get too carried away. This thing is essentially a cosmetic tweaking of the Amarok 580, boasting body-coloured molded styling bar, a roof mounted light bar with two 86-watt LED lamps, a premium roll cover and the option of signature Carbon Steel Grey metallic paint (Candy White and Deep Black Pearl effect colours also available). Inside, you get ‘Art Velour’ seat trim with front heater seats.
So, this is definitely the Amarok you buy if you’re planning to stay in town with plenty of high street cred. There will only be 200 units available.
